Let's Get Started
To reduce the risk of injury user must read instruction manuals for all tools used in this project. Wear eye and respiratory protection. Use clamps to support work piece whenever practical.
Choose your wood wisely
This is the most important part. You might be overwhelmed by all of the options, but soft woods like willow, limewood or birch are easiest to carve, and will make this project a lot easier. In this guide, we’ll be using birch.
Split and prepare the wood for carving
It's time to get chopping, so put your glove and safety glasses on. To make a controlled split straight down the middle, wedge the axe into the top of your wood, lift the entire thing and knock it gently against your work surface. Got it? Great!
