Let's Get Started

To reduce the risk of injury user must read instruction manuals for all tools used in this project. Wear eye and respiratory protection. Use clamps to support work piece whenever practical.

Build your base

To reduce the risk of injury please read instruction manuals for all tools used in this project. Wear eye and respiratory protection. Use clamps to support work piece whenever practical. First measure out the following pieces to length using your tape measure and make your mark using your pencil. • (2) Sides – 1/4'” x 2 ½” x 6” • (1) Handle Rod– 1/4” x 2 ½ x 9” • (1) Bottom – 3/4” x 9 1/2 “ • (6) Front Fences – 1/4” x 1 ¼” x 10 ½”

Measured twice? Now cut once!

Now that you’ve marked your measurements, lock it down. Clamp the wood you plan to cut onto your workbench using an Irwin clamp to hold it in place. Be sure you wear a dust mask when cutting. Once secured, take your Dremel Ultra-Saw and attach the wood cutting blade. Set the depth to ¾”. Helpful hint: For flat pieces of wood only, place a separate wooden board against the mark to help guide your saw as you make your cut, this will help ensure you cut a straight line. Also remember to account for your guide on your saw by measuring half an inch to the left of your cut line in the direction you are going to cut in.

Hope you have your pilot’s license, time to make some pilot holes!

Now that you have all your pieces cut out, it’s time to put it all together, but wait! Before you screw together the sides, you will want to drill a few pilot holes to smoothly guide the screws in and avoid cracking the wood. Attach your 7/64” drill bit to your drill and make 2 holes ½” above the bottom of each side.

All together now!

With 4 guiding pilot holes in place, screw the sides together using 4 screws (2 on each side). From there, screw your front fence pieces to each end, 3 on each side. These keep your beer in the caddy, the most important part! Once you have all the sides finished you’ll want to carry it around and show it off! But to do so you’ll need a handle of course! Simple insert the handle rod between both holes on the top and place a small amount of wood glue to hold them in place.

Now make it yours! (or someone else's)

Now that you have the structure of your caddy built you can make it as fancy as you feel! To smooth out the edges you can use your Dremel 3000 Variable Speed Rotary Tool with a sanding drum. To really make a personalized beer caddy, you can even get creative and burn your own design into the wood using the Dremel VersaTip™. Want to add that holiday oak wood look? Apply an even coat of varnish to your wooden beer caddy and let it dry overnight. Now your custom DIY beer caddy is ready! All that 's left is to fill it with your favorite (or your recipient's favorite) Christmas beer and deliver it to the holiday party!
