Introduction

Decorating for any holiday using the new Dremel® Moto-Saw™! For Valentines Day we decided to recycle extra craft supplies for our hanging heart garland!

Step 1

Draw out the design

You need:

Start by drawing out your design or use a template. We used 1/2" plywood and stamped metal, drew out our template first on paper and then tacked it to the material to guide our cut. Download our heart templates to trace or create your own design!

Step 2

Cutting the pattern using the Dremel Moto-Saw

You need:

Cut along your template pattern using the brand new Dremel Moto-Saw. Mount your Moto-Saw base station to any table you'd like to work on and snap the tool into place. Place your MS51 Wood and Plastic Cutting blade into your tool. You can distinguish this blade by comparing it to other blades in your kit. You'll notice that the teeth on this blade are placed further apart and are larger compared to other accessories.

Step 3

Cutting along the tracing using the Dremel Moto-Saw

You need:

Install your accessory, place your plywood under the foot of your tool and lower the foot. Plug in the tool and set the speed to (6), turn the tool on and begin cutting along your tracing. Make sure to let the speed of the tool do the work and gently guide the material through the blade.

Step 4

Painting the pieces

You need:

Once you have cut out all of your pieces, paint or decorate them. We recommend painting both sides as they will be exposed as the decorations twist and move. Allow for your pieces to dry before moving onto Step 5.

Step57

Step 5

Drilling holes in the pieces using Dremel 4200

You need:

Prepare your heart pieces to hang. Insert a 1/8" Drill Bit 150 into your 4200 tool, set the speed to 15 and drill pilot holes to secure screw eyes to your pieces so that you can connect them with a chain.

Step67

Step 6

Attaching all the pieces together

You need:

Next, attach all pieces together with the chain you chose. To do this, you will first need to attach screw eyes at the top and bottom of your pieces. Remember to only screw the eyelet to the top of the last piece in your chain. We used pliers to take apart our chain and break it up into sections to add between our pieces. For added color you could string beads onto the chain.

Adding clips to the chains

You need:

To attach our decorations to a shelf, we added clips to the top of each chain. We then added removable wall hooks underneath our shelf (hook opening facing outward). Clip your strands to the hooks and you're done!

Warning
