Let's Get Started
To reduce the risk of injury user must read instruction manuals for all tools used in this project. Wear eye and respiratory protection. Use clamps to support work piece whenever practical.
Step 1
Mark the area that you would like to cut away. We decided to use tape to mark the area so as not to leave behind any pencil or marker on our lamps. For our modern "V-shaped" design, we started our cut by making a plunge cut at the bottom using a new Dremel 4200 tool and a Multipurpose Cutting Bit. Pull back the levers on the 4200, insert the 561 Multipurpose Cutting Bit, secure the levers forward on the accessory. Set your tool to high speed and with your tool at a 90 degree angle, plunge straight into the PVC. Tilt the tool side-to-side to widen the cut area just slightly.
Step 2
We made our long running cuts up both sides of the "V" with an EZ544 Carbide Cutting Wheel. We also recommend adding the Cutting Shield as we found that cutting PVC can be a messy job! For this accessory change, pull down the levers of the tool, remove the Multipurpose Accessory. Next, remove the nosecap of the 4200 tool and thread the Shield onto the threaded portion of the tool. Finally, mount the EZ544 accessory onto your EZ Lock Mandrel. Insert the accessory into your tool, set the tool to high speed, and cut along your marked line of cut. Tip: As always, remember to let the speed of the tool do the work and do not bear down on your accessory.
